Finca Kitchen Has A New Look!

renovation 2010 0019_1_1 Don’t panic: Our new eating area is not destroyed. In our retreat in June we just completed the project in putting the finishing touches to our outside tiled floors. This last part entailed much labor, and we have Miles as well as Stefan, Rauno, Ilhan and Bernd to thank for the work that had to be done to destroy the old floor with an air hammer.

After we discarded many loads of rock, we were able to lay down a concrete foundation and, subsequently, the new tiles.

Rauno, our technical department leader for a year, preferred the Roman Style, and we followed his advice, especially since we were already a bit under some time pressure.  And so it was done!

We also spontaneously decided to include another project as part of our renovation: creating a new look  inside the Finca Kitchen.

renovation 2010 0023_1_1 Dani had the initial vision:
to extend the upper floor and create a living room space with a surrounding wall. We have two cozy sofas sitting under the upper window. And, on the other side, we have a new media corner with a handmade table, two computer stations, and a shelf for our stereo. We will  soon add custom-made shelves for our library.

Our Kitchen never experienced such change!  We moved our refrigerator, where we keep our beverages,  down to the first level and Ilhan built two walls around. On both the left and right hand sides, Richard created beautiful handmade surfaces for more space to make it easier to handle the drinks.

This is a picture from Finca breakfast now!
On the left of the refrigerator, we have the new tea area, and on the right, the wines and glasses.  And, our special surprise is that we have added two electric juicers for oranges and grapefruits! No more rocking breakfast table when everyone is juicing by hand.
