World Cup on the Finca

retreat 2010 0137 Even the international FIFA World Cup, for four weeks, reached our small Finca!

For the first time, the Finceros and Finceras – and also our guests who love soccer – did not have to leave the Finca and watch the games in one of the Pubs in town. We had our very own lounge to watch the World Cup!!

We set up a satellite connection and a beamer in our “Cave” where we could watch every game projected on the wall.

retreat 2010 0142 There were, of course, many games, and sometimes only the hard-core fans remained in front of the screen.

But then as it got more and more exciting, towards the end, we set up Dani´s TV and placed it under the Rubber Tree, and watched the games – live on the Plaza! You can be sure this is where everyone watched the Germany vs. Spain semi-final! But, even Anton´s war paint didn´t help…However, the leaders of a 5 Rhythm´s group from England, Alain and Sarah, were happy as they were expecting their Dance Group with 16 Spanish participants to be at the Finca for the Final!

retreat 2010 0143_1 The Final was again viewed under the Rubber Tree!  For sure, everyone agreed that there were too many fouls. Beautiful soccer looks different. We were all united about that!

But with so many Spaniards on the Finca (and that was a first in and of itself!), the few that were for Holland had a hard time.

With every minute of extra time, the tension was heightened…

And, then, an explosion of joy! The jubilation was intoxicating.

Some jumped right into the pool.

“Campéones, Campéones, Campéones del Mundo!”

Spain is the World Champion.

We say “Felicidades”. Congratulations!
